Spring Renewal Class Announcements

Greetings Reader,

In every great world tradition cultures honor the coming of Spring with purification rights.

What does purification mean to you?

Purification most often begins with the physical body, including techniques of bathing, and various fasting disciplines, such as no animal products for 40 days, or no food from sunrise to sunset.

If you prescribe to natural healing techniques, you may choose to eat only fruits and vegetables for a week to give your organ systems a chance to cleanse accumulated toxins from the winter season. Of course, the Ayurvedic tradition has its own methods of fasting and practices for purification.

The whole purpose of the practice of yoga is to purify the body, heart, and mind so an individual is drawn beyond the limits of their personality toward the Light of the Soul. To paraphrase my teacher B.K.S. Iyengar.

What areas of your life are calling for purification? Check out this list…

  1. Change your diet. When the body is stiff or sluggish. Choose to remove your three favorite foods for 21 days and see what happens.
  2. Increase your mild cardio exercise. Use traditional yoga breath practices and walking to stimulate your internal organs, improve oxygen efficiency, and gain mental clarity.
  3. Wright in a journal without censorship, to give expression to the parts of you that are often pushed aside.
  4. Embark on new spiritual studies. Find new perspectives on the moral and ethical principles to help you set your heart and mind free
  5. Go to a therapist, to help you reflect on the areas that are holding you back.
  6. Practice the art of appreciation. To reduce and eventually stop the mental habits of worry and complaint. Claim the goodness of your life.

Toxins are sneaky. Whether they look like plastics and heavy metals in our food supply or some negative and perpetual thoughts we keep thinking.

Now is a good time to reflect, study, and purify to become more of who you are meant to be moving forward into the next season.

Follow the discomforts in your body. Give them full attention with your yoga practices. Ask within how to best set them free. Receive assistance for clear reflection.

Greetings EveryoneReader, No matter who I talk to, the past few months have been challenging for so many of us on so many levels. Unexpected and out-of-the-ordinary circumstances have presented themselves over and over. Whether you've faced personal challenges, the illness of a loved one, or your own health challenges, circumstances have been unpredictable. The river of life has been moving fast and changing quickly. Perhaps you are someone who has seen many of your intentions come to...

HelloReader, I have a question for you. How strong is your personal yoga practice? And what obstacles do you face in trying to be consistent? To reap the full benefits of a yoga practice, it requires devotion. Not just showing up to a weekly class, but also engaging in a personal practice. A personal practice gives us the opportunity to breathe, compress, expand, and open so we can remember and reinforce our inner journey and the expression of our spiritual body. With ongoing devotion to...

HelloReader, Ever notice how relative time is? From one perspective a year is not a very long time, from another perspective a year is a long time. The year of recovery after hurricane Helene seems like a long time. For me personally the last time I was able to fully dedicate myself to sharing my skills and gifts with you, my greater Yoga community, was August 2024 pre- Helene, which seems like a long time ago. Since August 2024, I have been involved in clearing, recycling, and passing on...
